WORLD ENERGY COUNCIL - EXECUTIVE ASSEMBLY

EXECUTIVE ASSEMBLY

The Executive Assembly (EA) is the name given to the annual general membership meeting of the members of the World Energy Council. The members have ultimate authority in the governance of the World Energy Council as provided in the Articles of Association and are overall responsible for managing the Council’s affairs.  It is the members who:

· elect the Chair and Co-Chair of the Council and the members of its board (Officers Council)

· review and approve the organisation’s activities, work programme and annual budget

· approve new members and withdraw membership where warranted

· establish standing committees to carry out the work programme

· approve the sites for World Energy Congresses and Executive Assemblies

· approve the appointment of the World Energy Council’s Secretary General

Each Member Committee is entitled to be represented at the Executive Assembly, which is the ultimate governing authority for the Council.  The Executive Assembly meets once a year to conduct the business of the World Energy Council.  All Member Committees have one vote in the Executive Assembly, regardless of size or subscription category.

The Executive Assembly also hosts the World Energy Council’s major governance meetings, culminating in the full Executive Assembly Plenary, where the Council’s members will agree on the strategic direction of the organisation.
